DLB performed an energy audit for over 15 hospitals through the PSE&G Audit Program.

The program's emphasis was on "big ticket" items that had clearly defined paybacks and which could be implemented quickly.

Through our work with Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, DLB helped the hospital save over $1 million per year. Our efforts included:

  • Preliminary analysis & modeling efforts – Identified multiple potential Energy Conservation Measures, the cost savings, and analyzed the implementation feasibility.
  • New Energy Efficient Chiller Plant – Replaced an existing system from the 1970s. BIM was also used to ensure the plant would fit the available space.
  • Additional Recommendations – Also suggested improvements to lighting, new windows, and exhaust stack heat recovery.

DLB Associates worked with the City of Trenton to manage and implement energy conservation measures for 17 different public buildings, including:

  • Water Treatment & Sewage Facilities
  • Senior Centers, Recreation Centers
  • Police Headquarters, Fire Houses
  • Main Library

DLB also managed the ECMs from design through their completion, by reviewing the ECMs at each location, developing contract documents, preparing bid packages, reviewing shop drawings, and performing on-site visits during the construction.

Due to a funding limitation, DLB recommended upgrades that would provide the greatest impact on the greatest number of people, striking a balance between energy savings and environmental benefits. The ECMs suggested included the following upgrades:

  • Split system air conditioners
  • Lighting fixtures
  • Water heaters
  • Boilers

DLB Associates has extensive experience in providing engineering services for county governments, including Monmouth County, New Jersey.
