SENTINEL COLOCATION DATA CENTER

We have completed numerous colocation data center projects throughout the US.

A recent example is the conversion of a warehouse in Raleigh, NC to a 120,000 sq.ft. wholesale colocation facility for Sentinel Data Centers.

  • Creating conceptual diagrams and realistic visualizations during the pre-design and schematic design phases
  • Underground feeder ampacity calculations, short circuit coordination and arc flash studies
  • Witness factory tests, field inspections and oversight
  • Energy modeling and PUE analyses for utility rebates
  • Engineering, Permit and Construction documents
  • Piping flow modeling and CFD simulations


LEVEL 3 COMMUNICATIONS

DLB designed the Level 3 telecommunications sites nationally on a fast-track basis, providing Level 3 with a first-to-market competitive advantage in the new Internet Protocol technology. DLB completed more than 200 projects for Level 3 totaling over $1 billion in construction costs, including:

  • Mondo Condo – Manhattan; Chicago; Atlanta; Freemont, CA; Needham, MA
  • Inline Amplification Units – Nationwide every 60km along fiber trunk lines
  • Distribution Nodes (D-Node) – Nationwide
  • Transoceanic Fiber Landing – Bellport, NY
  • Regeneration Units (3R) – Nationwide

KEY ATTRIBUTES BASED ON OUR EXPERIENCE
  • Future Proofing – As technology changes, the rack power requirements often increase. Sites should be designed to accommodate mechanical / electrical expansion in a non-invasive manner.
  • Utility Coordination – Ensure good communication with the Utility and that the design aligns with their standards so their review and approval is streamlined and timely.
  • Ease of Construction – Using a repeatable, easily constructible design is paramount to allow both consistency and speed to uptime.
  • Schedule – Speed to market is a key element for any cell site. Our approach ensures all deadlines are met.


SMALL DATA CENTERS & TELECOM ROOMS
NY METRO TRANSPORTATION AUTHORITY (MTA)

As with many existing data centers, the raised floor plenum was congested and the existing rack layout haphazard. Project overview and services:

  • New critical power & cooling infrastructure
  • Field surveys & documentation of existing conditions
  • New monitoring & alarm system for CRAC units and UPS
  • CFD modeling was used to validate the cooling design


QTS METRO-ATLANTA DATA CENTER

We have completed numerous colocation data center projects throughout the US.

A recent example is the expansion of Quality Technology Services' (QTS) Atlanta-Metro 970,000 sq.ft. facility.

  • Electrical studies including low and medium voltage short circuit coordination study and arc flash evaluation
  • Fully redundant UPS critical power plant with "catcher" module and standby generator source
  • Optimized the spatial layout to maximize the revenue-generating raised floor areas
  • Flexible electrical design to provide colocation clients with N, N+1 or 2N feeds
  • Piping flow modeling and CFD simulations
